Siemers began his academic career by studying physics and mathematics at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, which he completed from 1975 to 1980. In 1981 he earned his diploma in physics and received his doctorate in 1984. rer. nat. He then started as a research assistant at the Institute for Experimental Physics at the CAU Kiel. Various positions in industry followed, including the role as a specialist group leader at Siemens AG in the area of ​​data technology and as a group leader in medical technology at Dräger AG.

Academic career and teaching

Siemers' academic career took him to the Stralsund University of Applied Sciences as a professor of computer engineering, followed by a move to the West Coast University of Applied Sciences in Heide in 1995. In 2002, he accepted a professorship for computer engineering at the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and remained there until his retirement in 2020. He held various professorships at Clausthal University of Technology, including from 2008 until 2014 in teaching communication and distributed systems and from 2014 to 2020 in automation technology.

Since 2021, Siemers has been 100% responsible for the Professorship of Automation Technology and currently represents 100% of the Professorship of Computer Engineering in the Institute of Computer Science. Despite his retirement from active teaching, he plans to continue giving lectures at Clausthal University of Technology. He will also attend the university's 250th anniversary celebrations in June, showing that his connection to the institution remains strong.
