Leibniz University Hannover has been offering the innovative JuniorSTUDIUM since the summer semester of 2019, primarily to give school students and trainees a deep insight into their studies. This initiative aims to give interested young people a realistic idea of academic life. Access to this program is uncomplicated: no pre-registration or special requirements are necessary, so participants can take part directly in selected courses.
The JuniorSTUDIUM is not only an opportunity to try out different subject areas, but also allows achievements to be credited towards later studies in certain areas. In addition, participation is free and possible for an entire semester, which makes it a valuable orientation offer when choosing a course of study. The introductory event will take place on Monday, April 8, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. in the main building of the university, in lecture hall f 128. The lecture period extends from April 9th, 2019 to July 21st, 2019.
Flexible participation and requirements
The lectures at Leibniz University Hannover offer a variety of events from which students can put together their own timetable. However, participation requires personal initiative, as missed material will not be made up in the lectures. Mathematically oriented lectures in particular require basic knowledge of differential and integral calculus, while knowledge of linear algebra is considered advantageous.
It is important for students to clarify with their school in advance whether they can be exempted from regular classes in order to attend courses. These arrangements must be made for participation in events that take place outside of school hours if no exemption is possible.
