The Clausthal University of Technology celebrated a special event on May 26, 2025: the graduates from the class of 2000 were awarded silver diplomas. University President Dr.-Ing. Sylvia Schattauer opened the ceremony, which attracted over 100 participants from all over Germany and Saudi Arabia. There were 50 people celebrating their anniversary among those present.
During the celebrations, Prof. Jens Traupe emphasized that this year is the first to study in two centuries. Gertrud Gayer, the former head of the examination office, looked back on 72 semesters at the university and recalled an anecdote about a student from Madagascar whose name consisted of 24 letters. Tim Bartels, representative of the General Student Committee (AStA), also praised the graduates for their contribution to the university's good reputation.
Emotional reviews and awards
Dr.-Ing. In her speech, Karola Kanzler emphasized the personal atmosphere during her studies, which often led to lifelong friendships. Prof. Daniel Goldmann gave the keynote speech about the role of TU Clausthal as a driver of the circular economy. Graduate Imran Khaliq Butt from Dubai underlined his deep connection to the university. What was particularly striking was the number of graduates who found their true love in Clausthal.
Dr.-Ing. Thorsten Maiwald and Ugur Cakir are regular returnees to the university. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Lindermeir, who works at the CUTEC research center, reiterated his loyalty to the region. After the official part of the event, there was a champagne reception with snacks, which gave participants the opportunity to have personal conversations.
