Hanover promotes founders: New opportunities for start-ups and innovations!
The Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) has published a new research magazine that is particularly aimed at the needs of founders. The title of the current issue is “How to start a business? Research, funding and role models”. The magazine offers information about the steps from the idea to the start-up and evaluates promising start-up ideas. It is published twice a year and is available in print, online, as a download or via an app.
The committed team at LUH has built an extensive start-up ecosystem in collaboration with economic development and regional players. The services offered include start-up workshops, use of rooms and laboratories, access to networks and the ONE Tech Campus in Garbsen. In addition, support for EXIST start-up scholarships is highlighted. The integration of start-up skills into the curricula of the degree programs is another important step in strengthening the start-up culture at the university. The offer is supplemented by accompanying start-up research, which examines the framework conditions for start-ups and offers direct support.
EXIST start-up grant as a key resource
The EXIST start-up scholarship specifically supports students, graduates and scientists from universities and non-university research institutions who want to start a company. The funding takes place over a period of 12 months and helps with the creation of a business plan and preparation for setting up a company. It is crucial that the business idea is innovative, technology-oriented or knowledge-based, with clear unique selling points and realistic prospects of success.
In order to apply for funding, the application must be submitted to the respective university or research institution. The EXIST start-up scholarship is a program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) and is also co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF). Further information and current manual and policy downloads are available on the program website.
Government funding for start-ups
In Germany, numerous government funding is available to self-employed founders. Over 2,000 different funding options can be requested. The advice centers that offer helpful information about these funding include KölnBusiness, start-up networks at universities and research institutions, as well as chambers of industry and commerce. At the state level, the respective state funding institutes and guarantee banks are also contact persons.
Special programs, such as the EXIST start-up grant, are aimed at young start-ups in the early founding phase and are intended to help mobilize innovation potential despite financial obstacles. However, additional funding is also available for companies after the start-up phase. Eligibility requirements for government funding may vary depending on the program.
With the publication of the new research magazine and the many supporting measures, Leibniz University Hannover shows that it plays an important role in the start-up ecosystem. This provides founders with well-founded information and valuable resources to put their ideas into action.
