JuniorSTUDIUM: Get a taste of studying now – information event on March 31st!
The Leibniz University of Hannover (LUH) is planning another JuniorSTUDIUM, which offers school students, trainees and those doing voluntary service the opportunity to immerse themselves in university operations for a semester. This was announced on March 24, 2025. The program, which has already been very well received in the past, enables young participants to take part in regular courses and take exams. The first information event for the 2025 summer semester will take place on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in lecture hall 030 of the LUH, Im Moore 11 in Hanover.
The 2025 summer semester at Leibniz University started on April 7th and ends on July 19th, 2025. To take part in the JuniorSTUDIUM, those interested must register online at www.uni-hannover.de/juniorstudium register. Proof of current activity is required, be it school affiliation, training or voluntary service. The courses take place at various locations within the university; Detailed information can be found in the online lecture directory.
Target group and program design
The JuniorSTUDIUM is aimed at school students, trainees and participants in voluntary services such as the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ), the Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ), the Voluntary Military Service (FWJ) and the Federal Voluntary Service. The program is offered every semester and gives young people a valuable opportunity to gain an insight into everyday university life. In this way, they can not only satisfy their curiosity, but also gain valuable experience for their professional future.
To participate, you must register online. The LUH explained that students receive support to familiarize themselves with their studies and the university requirements. In addition, an information event is planned every semester to inform current and interested young people in advance. The next one will take place on October 11, 2024 to make it easier to start the 2024/2025 winter semester.
Additional opportunities at the University of Osnabrück
There is a similar offer at the University of Osnabrück, which is aimed at particularly talented and motivated high school students. There, participants have the opportunity to take part in one to three courses and acquire corresponding certificates of achievement. This evidence can usually be credited towards future studies. An important aspect here is the consent of the school management, as well as the support of teachers who have to look after the participants during the events.
Minor participants also need the signature of a legal guardian in order to take part in the early study program. The university offers new students comprehensive support to familiarize themselves with the respective field of study.
The initiative by the universities of Hanover and Osnabrück shows a clear trend: opening universities to younger age groups not only promotes education, but also personal development in preparation for future academic and professional challenges.
