Career booster for women: Symposium in Göttingen promises networking and success!
The 9th “Women’s Careers and Networks Symposium” (WoCaNet) will take place on June 4th and 5th, 2025 at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Natural Sciences in Göttingen. This event is aimed specifically at young scientists and offers a platform to make valuable contacts. The symposium is organized by doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers from the University of Göttingen, the University Medical Center Göttingen, the Göttingen Max Planck Institutes and the German Primate Center.
The program begins on June 4th at 9 a.m. with a workshop day on which three parallel workshops will be offered. Here the participants can acquire practical skills, with the costs for the workshops varying between 5 and 10 euros. On June 5th, Göttingen's mayor Petra Broistedt will open the event at 9 a.m., followed by lectures from outstanding women such as Dr. Laila Al-Halabi-Frenzel, CEO of Abcalis GmbH, and Prof. Dr. Christine Rose, head of the Institute for Neurobiology at the University of Düsseldorf.
A comprehensive program
Since its first edition in 2010, the symposium has established itself as an important networking and mentoring event for women in various scientific and professional fields. In addition to the inspiring lectures, a career fair will also take place on June 5th, at which the GAUSS Career Service will be represented. This trade fair offers participants the opportunity to get to know potential employers and gain valuable insights into various career opportunities.
Another highlight of the symposium is the networking dinner, which will take place on the evening of June 5th. Here the participants have the opportunity to exchange ideas about career paths with the speakers and other selected guests. The participation fee for the symposium is 10 euros for students and 15 euros for other participants, which includes lunch and coffee breaks. Participants who register first have the chance to book workshops and the networking dinner for 5 euros each.
Registration for the workshops and the symposium was possible until May 16, 2025. How women-in-der-science.de highlights, such events are of central importance for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among women in science. WoCaNet is not only an opportunity for networking, but also a forum to increase the visibility of women in science and industry and support them in the development of their careers.
