New project With light luggage”: TU Braunschweig optimizes processes!
On July 18, 2025, the Technical University of Braunschweig will provide information about various projects and developments that are currently being promoted at the university. Among the initiatives, the “Luggage light” transformation project, which has been active since May 2025, stands out. The aim of this project is to simplify internal administrative processes and improve collaboration in various areas of the university.
The project, which is funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) as part of the “Creating Spaces” initiative, runs for six months and is led by Dr. Madita Olvermann and Sarah Zerwas M.A. coordinated. Around 50 participants work in nine teams on specific challenges, with the focus on the courage to change, team spirit and clear objectives. The first milestones such as the opening event on May 6th and the “learning” starting stage on May 7th have already been successfully completed.
Digital infrastructure and research
Another important project is the “Lower Saxony Digital Science Support Space (DS3)”. This project is coordinated in cooperation between the TU Braunschweig and the University of Göttingen and will receive funding of 24 million euros to strengthen the research IT infrastructure. As part of this project, new high-performance computers and science support teams will be set up, which will significantly improve research conditions.
In addition, the TU Braunschweig is part of the MoReHealth joint project, which deals with the age-related susceptibility of older people to infections. This involves analyzing health data to gain in-depth insights that can help improve health care.
International collaborations and awards
The strategic partnership with the University of Strathclyde shows TU Braunschweig's commitment to intensifying international research collaborations. A delegation led by Prof. Peter Hecker traveled to Glasgow to visit production and materials research facilities and discuss common research areas.
One event worth highlighting is the awarding of the VDE ITG Prize 2025 to Yannick Wenger and Professors Bernd Meinerzhagen and Vadim Issakov for their outstanding work in the field of information technology. This award testifies to the high academic quality of research at the university.
Social engagement and events
The TU Braunschweig is actively involved in social issues. This becomes clear, among other things, from the excursion to Rwanda, during which architecture students examined health-promoting architecture in Kigali. The hoisting of the rainbow flag on July 25th on University Square as part of the CSD Braunschweig also underlines the university's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
In addition, the university commemorates the 150th birthday of the artist Rudolf Levy, which was celebrated on July 15th. A social media campaign jointly organized by 20 museums recognizes the special role of the Straßner Collection at the TU Braunschweig. The university also supports sustainable projects through the VDI scholarship, which supports theses on environmentally friendly technologies.
Overall, it shows that TU Braunschweig not only delivers excellent academic achievements, but also actively works on the development of innovative solutions and social issues. These measures are part of a comprehensive commitment that focuses on both internal process optimization and the promotion of research and teaching.
