Rehabilitation sports in Göttingen: New group training for a better quality of life!
From the end of February 2025, the FIZ fitness center at the University of Göttingen will have a new focus on health and rehabilitation. Group training for medically prescribed rehabilitation sports is offered. This offer is aimed specifically at people with physical limitations in the musculoskeletal system who need support due to injuries or chronic complaints such as hip and knee joint arthrosis, back pain and neck tension. The training courses are carried out by qualified trainers who can respond to the respective needs of the participants.
The therapeutic concept of rehabilitation sports at the FIZ is not only certified, but is also recognized by health insurance companies. A major advantage is that rehabilitation sports can be prescribed by practicing doctors. With appropriate approval, participants are entitled to reimbursement of costs for usually 50 exercise units within 18 months. Those interested can register now. Further information and the application form for covering costs are available at the FIZ. If you have any questions, David Walli, a contact person at the Institute of Sports Science, is available (telephone: 0551 39 25657, email: david.walli@sport.uni-goettingen.de ).
Extensive healthcare offering
The rehabilitation sports offering at FIZ is part of a more comprehensive approach that goes beyond classic fitness. The sports studio also offers modern body analyzes using Futrex infrared red light technology. This enables a precise assessment of individual health and fitness. In addition, personal support is guaranteed through individual nutrition and training planning.
The facility also specializes in cardiac and pulmonary sports programs. These courses are specifically designed for people with cardiovascular or respiratory diseases and aim to improve participants' endurance and resilience. These programs are an essential part of health promotion and aim to prevent muscle regression and postural problems that can result from a lack of exercise. Rehabilitation sports make a crucial contribution to reducing pain and increasing quality of life.
Motivation through group training
Another important aspect of rehabilitation sport is that it is carried out in groups. Group training not only promotes motivation among participants, but also offers support and social interaction. Performing the exercises together is a proven method to promote mobility, support muscle building and thus increase the general quality of life. In addition, the rehabilitation sports programs cover all the basic needs that are necessary for specifically strengthening the muscles and improving mobility.
