Summer, sun, science: Discover Braunschweig's exciting summer schools!

This year, the Technical University of Braunschweig is once again offering a variety of summer schools aimed at researchers in early career phases and students. The aim of these programs is to impart specialist knowledge, promote intercultural skills and offer valuable networking opportunities. One aspect that particularly stands out is the combination of theoretical insights and practical experiences offered to participants. This is what they report Editors from TU Braunschweig.

As part of the summer schools there are a number of specialized courses, including the DLR_Uni_Summer_School. This unique event is organized jointly by aviation universities and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Here, participants have the opportunity to test theoretical knowledge on research flights and in simulators. The research aircraft used include the Cessna F406 “D-ILAB” from the TU Braunschweig and the Cessna 208B “D-FDLR” from the DLR. There will also be lectures and visits to the Braunschweig research airport.

Variety of summer courses

Another highlight is the Automotive Circular Economy Summer School, which is a week-long event at the Wolfsburg campus. The focus here is on resource-saving production processes in automobile manufacturing. Participants can look forward to workshops, experiments and simulation games led by professors from TU Braunschweig and Ostfalia University. Excursions to regional industrial partners are also planned to gain practical insights into the industry.

The SE²A International Summer School focuses on advanced sustainable aviation technologies. It includes a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical project work, which begins with a virtual phase with lectures and is followed by a face-to-face phase in Braunschweig. The interdisciplinary practical project offers participants the opportunity to test their skills in a practical environment, including a supporting program with visits to partner companies.

Another exciting offer is the summer school on the topic of “Cellular Metabolism”. This introduction to metabolic flow analysis takes place at the Institute of Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. Participants observe practical processes of nutrient conversion and benefit from the international recognition of the laboratory for metabolic flow analysis.

Offer language and culture courses

The International Summer School on German language and culture presents a comprehensive program for international students and young professionals. Over four to six weeks, participants are encouraged to develop their language skills through intensive courses in small groups that cover up to four different language levels. Classes last six hours over five days a week and aim to improve grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. Additional excursions and social activities enable participants to visit historical cities, museums as well as regional companies and research institutions at the TU Braunschweig.

The accompanying program also offers opportunities for field trips to explore the region's nature and culture, as well as time for your own explorations in Braunschweig. These programs are particularly suitable for students from partner universities of the TU Braunschweig who would like to study there in the following semester. Further information about dates and registration options is available on the official website of the TU Braunschweig to find.
