TiHo VetFestival: Celebrate innovation and joy in veterinary medicine!
On September 1, 2025, the first TiHo VetFestival took place at the Hannover University of Veterinary Medicine Foundation (TiHo). The event was a great success, attracting around 1,000 participants and 45 exhibitors from industry and various interest groups. The aim of the event was to provide further training in an innovative and relaxed atmosphere. TiHo President Professor Dr. Klaus Osterrieder highlighted the connection between science and joy in veterinary medicine and emphasized the high number of registrations and the positive mood that prevailed across the entire TiHo campus.
The extensive program included specialist lectures, workshops, seminars, drop-in sessions and cultural offerings. The workshops were particularly popular and were quickly booked out. Professor Holger Volk, PhD, head of the Small Animal Clinic, initiated this novel event format that brought together TiHo clinics and departments.
Unique training format
The TiHo VetFestival is the first event of its kind in Germany. It combines a veterinary congress with a festival character and will take place again in 2027. The next date has already been set: the festival will take place on August 27th and 28th, 2025 and will be held under the motto “Education, Celebration, Fairnets”.
The program will continue to offer high-quality lectures and interactive intensive workshops. Over 50 lectures and 30 workshops cover a wide range of topics, ranging from veterinary practice to veterinary well-being.
Particular attention was also paid to the training content for animal carers and veterinary specialists. These were addressed in special programs that also emphasized sustainable learning methods and social aspects of professional life.
Diverse offers for veterinary professionals
The TiHo VetFestival event is not only supported by the local clinics. Also the platform further training.vet offers a comprehensive range of further training for veterinary doctors, veterinary assistants (TFAs) and students. Here, interested parties can find both on-demand webinars and live seminars on various topics ranging from radiation protection to surgical skills.
The flexibility to access recorded content at any time or to participate live is very much appreciated by participants. The webinars are often certified, making them an attractive choice for ongoing education.
Overall, the TiHo VetFestival shows an innovative approach to further training in veterinary medicine and enables participants not only to learn new specialist knowledge, but also to have personal exchanges and network among colleagues.
