TU Braunschweig and IIT Bombay: Strong alliance for the future!
The Technical University of Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig) is intensifying its cooperation with Indian educational institutions, in particular the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay). This was made clear during a delegation trip by TU President Angela Ittel, who recently visited several universities and research institutes in India. The main objective of this trip was to deepen the partnership with IIT Bombay, which has existed since 2012 through various agreements. This relationship is strengthened by a variety of collaborations across all six faculties at TU Braunschweig, which shows how firmly the university is anchored in the international educational landscape. Loud TU Braunschweig India has the second largest number of students in the world and invests heavily in the development of its research infrastructure.
TU Braunschweig has also maintained a collaboration with BITS Pilani, one of the top ten engineering universities in India, since 2009. This partnership is supported by the Indo-German Center for Sustainable Manufacturing, where students from both institutions enjoy research-oriented learning. Annual seminars provide a platform for knowledge exchange and academic networking.
Intensive discussions and new projects
In July, a delegation of professors from IIT Bombay visited TU Braunschweig, where they took part in a workshop on “Devices to Support Human Movement”. Discussions covered areas such as mechanical design, medical informatics and imaging. This exchange has been repeated in recent years and illustrates the constant progress of the partnership, while discussions about future research activities and student exchanges also took place. This was highlighted by Professor Sándor Fekete, the collaboration coordinator, who praised the high level of commitment shown by the Indian students Theinder.
Another advantage of the cooperation is the annual participation of Indian students in research internships at the TU Braunschweig. This year, 19 students from IIT Bombay were able to gain international experience by working in the Laboratory for Emerging Nanotechnologies (LENA) and at other institutes. These internships are a valuable opportunity to experience the practical application of theory in research.
The look into the future
Despite the challenges in the global education landscape, the opportunities for cooperation with India remain unbroken. In discussions with the Indian partners, Angela Ittel emphasized the importance of young talent and the shared opportunities that arise from this. Professor Anirban Guha, head of the IITB delegation, expressed optimism about the tour and the potential for future collaborations. Discussions about vehicle design, fuel cells and electric drives open up new perspectives for TUB R&D projects that want to further advance their innovative approaches TU Braunschweig.
Through its newest membership in the German Business and Innovation House (DWIH) New Delhi, TU Braunschweig will also have the opportunity to further expand and deepen its cooperation with Indian institutions. Exchanges with IIT Delhi and IIT Hyderabad will also be expanded, strengthening the diversity of partnerships.
