Physical Theater graduates: An evening full of creativity!

The premiere of this year's “Short Cuts” will be celebrated on May 22, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. in the Pina Bausch Theater on the Essen-Werden campus. This is an outstanding event that presents the final theses of students from the Physical Theater bachelor's degree program at the Folkwang University of the Arts. The presentation takes place under the direction of Prof. Thomas Stich, the course representative.

The participants are Alexandra Entenmann, Sara Guaitini, Selma-Lou Haß, Livia Kallmeyer, Fine Kroke and Celine Zoe Krüger. They have worked intensively on their own pieces over the past few months, and each of the works presented demonstrates innovative ideas and high artistic quality. The event not only offers an insight into the students' creative processes, but is also supported by experienced teachers such as Prof. Thomas Buts, Elisabeth Hofmann, Mu-Yi Kuo and Kristin Scheinhütte, who accompany the young artists during their training.

Further performances and admission prices

After the premiere, further performances will take place on May 23rd and 24th, also at 7:30 p.m. The ticket prices are extremely affordable at 7.00 euros (reduced 5.00 euros). Admission is even free for students who have a valid school ID card. Anyone interested can reserve tickets via the Folkwang ticket hotline on 0201_4903-231 or by email to karten@folkwang-uni.de. An evening box office will also be set up.

The Physical Theater course at Folkwang University, founded in 1965 by Bettina Falckenberg and Günter Titt, is the only state-run training program of its kind in German-speaking countries. Its goal is to train young theater makers who are able to independently develop and implement artistic work at a high level.

Tradition and innovation

The “Short Cuts” are an integral part of the artistic calendar at Folkwang University. Here, graduates and students show their own work and take full responsibility for the acting, stage, costume, light and sound. This holistic concept promotes the budding artists' sense of responsibility and creative independence. The last graduate performance took place in March 2023, with different pieces being presented on four evenings, demonstrating the students' versatility and creativity.

It is expected that this year's “Short Cuts” will delight both audiences and experts, and everyone involved is looking forward to an exciting premiere.
