Career prospects without clichés: Girls' and Boys' Day 2025 in Bielefeld

The annual Girls' Day and Boys' Day will take place on April 3, 2025, offering students the opportunity to explore careers outside of traditional gender roles. The aim of this initiative is to promote career choices that are free of clichés. Bielefeld University is taking part in this important event and offers a wide range of programs for cliché-free career orientation. Currently at Bielefeld University reports on exciting offers for girls and boys.

Various insights are available for girls, including a trial day as a sports and fitness clerk, the career of a chemist and opportunities in industrial or precision mechanics. Boys, on the other hand, can get to know the job of a specialist in administration or gain an insight into the work of a library. For further information about available places and how to register, please visit the official Girls’ Day and Boys’ Day pages.

Official opening and objectives

Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently gave the starting signal for Girls’ Day in the Federal Chancellery. This event took place in collaboration with the D21 initiative and offered 24 students from three Berlin schools the opportunity to explore a technology course. Scholz emphasized the constantly growing demand for young talent in technical, mathematical and engineering professions. He highlighted that the opportunities for young women in these areas are currently better than ever. cliché-free.de underlines the important role of the Girls' and Boys' Days, which have taken place since 2001 and 2011 and provide insights into often unconventional professional fields.

The offers range from careers in the IT industry to skilled trades to jobs in daycare centers and nursing professions. Employers are having increasing difficulties finding suitable young talent, which further highlights the relevance of such campaigns. Impact studies from 2022 show that 90% of boys were satisfied with their participation in Boys’ Day. In addition, 66% said they had discovered an interesting job and 36% could imagine starting an internship in the career they explored during Boys' Day.

Results and satisfaction among participants

The feedback from the participants was consistently positive. Of the Girls' Day participants, 42% could even imagine doing an internship at the Girls' Day place. This positive feedback provides considerable evidence of the effects of the action days on young people's career choices. Those responsible for the events, supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, do everything in their power to encourage girls and boys alike to shape their career paths free of gender stereotypes.
