German University Championships: Sports highlight expected in Cologne!

From May 29th to June 1st, 2025, the German university championships held in badminton, roundnet and table tennis. Around 600 athletes have registered for this prestigious event, which is organized by the General German University Sports Association (adh). This is not only an opportunity for participants to measure their skills, but also an opportunity to qualify for international competitions if they perform particularly well, such as zsgw.rptu.de reported.

In Germany, over 50 competitions in various sports are organized by the adh every year. These tournaments not only promote sporting activity, but also exchange and community among students and staff at the universities.

Diversity and inclusion in college sports

Immediately after the championships, from June 2nd to 6th, 2025, the Diversity Week take place. Under the motto “You make the difference,” this initiative promotes participation, empowerment and against discrimination. A highlight will be International Day on June 4th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., which will serve to raise awareness and promote exchange. In this context, it is important to focus on the challenges and the importance of diversity in sport. Research projects such as the current project to collect data on discrimination in Berlin club sports are intended to provide important insights. The study, which will be carried out from May to October 2023, aims to create an empirical basis that can be used for further anti-discrimination measures.

Further events at Spoho

There are numerous other events on the program at the German Sport University Cologne over the course of June. On June 3rd and 17th, 2025 the Spoho trial days Bachelor take place. Those interested have the opportunity to visit the campus and listen to various lectures and courses.

Another highlight is the information event on entering the Master's program (digital) on June 4th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., where information will be provided on the entry requirements and the application process for the winter semester 2025/26. The next aptitude test will take place on June 11th and 12th, passing which is a prerequisite for a bachelor's degree at Spoho.

On June 13th the 8th International Sport & Discrimination Conference organized that deals with intersectional discrimination in sport. Specialist lectures from academics, doctoral students, students and practitioners are presented here and are intended to encourage respectful and open dialogue.

Last but not least, on June 28, 2025 the Graduation ceremony 2025 which is intended for students who completed their studies between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025.
