A Mozart evening in Bielefeld: Requiem under powerful vocal direction!
On Sunday, November 9th, at 6 p.m., the Bielefeld University Choir, in collaboration with the Evangelische Kantorei Sennestadt, will present a unique concert in the Jesus Christ Church in Bielefeld-Sennestadt. Led by church music director Dorothea Schenk, the singers and musicians will perform the famous Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The concert is part of the choir's rich repertoire, which, under Schenk's direction, repeatedly performs important works of choral music. aktuell.uni-bielefeld.de reports that…
The main work of the evening, Mozart's Requiem in D minor, is considered one of the highlights of classical choral music. The performance will be supported by first-class soloists: Anna-Sophie Brosig (soprano), Eike Tiedemann (alto), Severin Böhm (tenor) and Markus Krause (bass) will lend their voices to the moving melodies of the Requiem. The choir is accompanied by the baroque orchestra L’Arco from Hanover, which makes the concert a special sonic experience.
Preliminary program and further performances
The concert begins with a diverse supporting program that includes pieces by Mozart, including “Ave verum” and “Laudate Dominum,” as well as the setting of Antonio Salieri’s “De Profundis in chorale” (Psalm 129). The arrangement for soloists, choir and orchestra of Salieri's work highlights the exciting dialogue between two great composers. The baroque orchestra L’Arco will also present a performance of “Fratres” by the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.
The demand for tickets is high. The prices are 25 euros, 20 euros and 15 euros; students and severely disabled people receive a discount of 3 euros. Maps are available at the tourist information office and at the municipal office in Sennestadt. Additionally, Print@home tickets can be purchased via www.bielefeld.jetzt.
