An impressive gala concert will be held at the Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr in Bochum on October 3, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. The event, which is the fourth of its kind, aims to support graduates of the Folkwang Konzertexamen excellence course. This concert is special as it will present the first German performance of Anna Sowa's “Concerto for Two Accordions and String Orchestra,” performed by Yilin Han and Piotr Motyka. In addition, Yi-Ju Lin will interpret Carl Nielsen's “Concerto for Flute and Orchestra” and Doh-Hee Lee will play Variations on a Rococo Theme by Peter Tchaikovsky. Folkwang University reports that the graduates of the Folkwang Konzertexamen, the highest degree at German music universities, have all already achieved significant success in their careers.
Tickets for the concert cost 25 euros, reduced 7 euros for schoolchildren and students up to 29 years of age. The Bochum Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Tong-Chieh Chuang will also take part in the event. The artists in focus
The four musicians who will be on stage bring international experience with them. Yilin Han, born in 1998 in Luoyang, China, studies with Prof. Mie Miki and has already received numerous international appearances and awards. Her colleague Piotr Motyka, who was also trained in Poland, has also successfully taken part in various competitions. Yi-Ju Lin, born in Taoyuan, Taiwan in 1995, has played as a guest musician in numerous orchestras and will interpret Carl Nielsen's Concerto for Flute and Orchestra. Finally, the experienced Doh-Hee Lee, born in 1993 in South Korea, who received her musical training at Folkwang University and other renowned institutions, will perform Tchaikovsky's Variations.
These musicians are not only talented, but also part of one of the most renowned training programs in Germany. The Folkwang University of the Arts is known for its excellent training conditions, and completing the Folkwang Concert Exam is considered particularly prestigious.
