Ceremonial handover of certificates: Five trainees start at the FernUni!
On August 25, 2025, a ceremony to hand over certificates for graduates of the training took place at the FernUniversität in Hagen. Five trainees successfully completed their training, including Christiana Braun as an office management clerk and Andreas Breitner and Klaus Busch, both as warehouse logistics specialists. Paul Salomon and Marius Wardenga also received their certificates as IT specialists for application development.
The graduates impressed with their performance and were rewarded with a one-year follow-up contract. This opens up good opportunities for them to be taken over in the company. At the celebration, Head of Human Resources Eva Engels and Acting Chancellor Barbara Katharina Bröker warmly congratulated the young specialists on their successes. Head of training Christina Dreßler also announced the third day of training on October 7th on campus and informed about the FernUni's participation in the Hagen Vocational School Day on October 1st.
Application phases for 2026
The importance of starting training is also evident in the current phase. According to the information from Training.de, starting an apprenticeship is a crucial step into professional life. In Germany, training usually starts between August 1st and September 1st, although this varies depending on the federal state, company and type of school. Applications for 2026 are currently active, while there are still some opportunities for 2025.
Application deadlines may vary depending on the industry. In the public sector, the deadlines are from summer 2025 to December 2025, while banks and insurance companies have their application phase from spring 2025 to autumn 2025. Dual studies begin in mid-August or September, sometimes even in October, which allows for flexible planning.
A look at the training statistics
In addition, the Federal Statistical Office offers comprehensive data on trainees, training contracts and final examinations. The Federal Employment Agency provides detailed statistics that provide insights into unfilled training positions and the number of unplaced applicants. These statistics are an indispensable part of training advice and help to keep an overview of the training market.
Various institutions provide further useful information about the training market. The German Association of Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Central Association of German Crafts provide relevant data on the development and changes in vocational training. This data can be beneficial for training companies and applicants alike in making the best possible decisions.
Overall, it is clear that the start of training is of great importance for both graduates of the FernUniversität and future trainees. Careful planning and timely applications are crucial to being successful in the highly competitive training market.
