FernUni Hagen shines in the CHE ranking: top ratings for psychology!
On May 9, 2025, the bachelor's degree program in Psychology opened FernUniversität in Hagen achieved excellent results in the current CHE ranking. The evaluation is based on feedback from 440 distance learning students who gave the course positive marks for the digital teaching elements and the study organization. This feedback is part of the comprehensive ranking of the Center for University Development (CHE), which analyzes the quality of studies at universities in Germany across all faculties.
What is particularly noteworthy is that over 2,700 new enrollments were recorded for the winter semester 2024/25, including 2,735 students who took part in introductory module 1 of the distance learning course. Despite the high capacity utilization of the courses, the quality of teaching remains consistently high. The Faculty of Psychology at the FernUniversität offers both freedom and a clear structure in everyday learning, which benefits the students.
Excellent study conditions
The students gave top marks in particular to the categories “study organization” and “general study situation”. Digital teaching elements such as teaching videos, quizzes and tutorials on the Moodle platform play a crucial role. Prof. Dr. Andreas Mokros, dean of the faculty, emphasizes the high quality of the degree program and the commitment of the teachers. The support for starting your studies, which is offered through large introductory events and programs such as StudyFIT and StudyNAVI, also received positive feedback.
Personal study advice, which can be reached by telephone, virtually or on site, ensures that students are supported at all times. This individual support means that the FernUniversität achieves top scores in the “Support at the beginning of your studies” category.
Resources and digital offerings
Another plus point is the university library, which is also rated positively by students. This provides an inventory of 850,000 printed and more than 150,000 digital media, including e-books and e-journals, which can be used both locally and worldwide. The continuous expansion of digital resources and the teaching of information skills show that the library sees itself as a central service provider for students, both in direct contact and through digital offerings. Students can have books and documents delivered directly to their home and benefit from flexible access to media.
In addition, the FernUniversität in Hagen is not only committed to these high standards in the field of psychology. The current CHE ranking also shows that law at the FernUniversität in Hagen holds top positions. The digital teaching offerings and study support were also highly praised there, while the IT infrastructure also went unmentioned reports.
Overall, it is clear that the FernUniversität in Hagen offers an attractive environment for aspiring psychologists and lawyers with its comprehensive support, the high quality of the courses offered and the innovative digital elements. The continuous work on improving and expanding the range of courses shows the desire to provide students with optimal conditions for their studies.
