FISU Games 2025: Local Taekwondo star aims for fame at home!

The preparations for the coming FISU World University Games in 2025 in the Rhine-Ruhr region will gain momentum. From theJuly 16 to 27, 2025Over 150 nations are expected to compete for medals in 19 different sports and cultivate cultural exchange. One of the athletes who will compete for the German colors is Leah Lawall, a student at the German Sport University Cologne. She is part of the German Poomsae team in Taekwondo and has already achieved numerous successes, including several German championships and a gold medal at the EUSA Games 2022.

Leah describes being nominated for the FISU Games as a great honor, especially since they take place in her home country. Your goal for the event is to use the performance you achieved in training in the competition while enjoying the event to the fullest. This is not her first time participating in FISU games; She was already there in Chengdu, China, in 2023 and highlights the exchange with other athletes and the impressive organization of the event.

Important topics of the FISU World Conference

Parallel to the FISU Games there will also be FISU World Conference from theJuly 17th to 19th, 2025take place in the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum. This conference is entitled “Competing for Change: Exploring Sustainability and (Mental) Health through Sports” and addresses important societal concerns at the intersection of physical performance, mental health and environmental sustainability. The topics are very relevant in a rapidly changing world.
