Innovative festival in Bielefeld: Experience the future of health and technology!

On April 7, 2025, Bielefeld University and College will announce a groundbreaking event: the first Innovation Festival, which will take place on campus on September 17 and 18, 2025. This initiative aims to bring together companies, researchers and decision-makers from East Westphalia-Lippe and to promote exchanges about the latest technologies and cooperation opportunities.

The festival is organized by Bielefeld Research + Innovation Campus GmbH (BRIC). The focus of the event is on future topics, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence, sustainable materials and digital health applications. The scientific expertise of Bielefeld College and University is highlighted through various formats, including scientific lectures, workshops and innovation laboratories.

Program details and main topics

The Innovation Festival program promises a varied offering. In addition to pitches and laboratory tours, the focus on the second day will be on the areas of health, care and medicine. Current developments in assistance systems, digital healthcare and personalized medicine are presented here.

An important aspect of this event is the promotion of cooperation, which is intended to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness and future viability of the regional economy. Registration to participate will be possible from June 2025 and entry will be free. Advance information about the program will be published on the festival website from April 2025.

Digital health applications in focus

A central theme of the festival is digital health applications (DiGA). These are now part of the basic and insured flat rate and cannot be billed separately. The symbol number 86700, which has been valid since May 1, 2022, allows doctors and psychotherapists to be reimbursed for disease checks in connection with DiGA.

How KVWL.de reported, various health apps are permanently included in the DiGA directory, which gives additional tailwind to new approaches in digital health care. The evaluation committee also defines independent EBM services for permanently listed DiGA that require medical or psychotherapeutic follow-up.

The Innovation Festival not only offers a platform for presenting the latest technologies, but also an opportunity to further strengthen the role of digital health solutions in the healthcare system and promote their integration. The event will therefore be a significant step towards an innovation-friendly future for the East Westphalia-Lippe region.
