Cooperation between Bochum and Taipei: Scientists in exchange!
On April 4, 2025, the National Taipei University of Education (NTUE) and the Faculty of Law at the Ruhr University Bochum signed a significant cooperation agreement. The official signing took place on March 20, 2025 in Taipei. At the ceremony was Prof. Dr. Jörg Ennuchat from the Ruhr University was present, who significantly promoted the long-term partnership with the Taiwanese institution.
The agreement is intended to intensify scientific relationships and promote the exchange of researchers and students. Joint research projects and events are also planned. President of the NTUE, Prof. Dr. Ching-Ho Chen, emphasized that this cooperation will not only enrich perspectives in educational and cultural law, but also make a valuable contribution to research.
Deepening scientific relationships
The director of the Institute for Cultural and Educational Law at NTUE, Prof. Dr. Li-Jen Kuo, who herself received her doctorate in Bochum, emphasized the importance of knowledge transfer between the two universities. Several Taiwanese scientists have already completed research stays at the Ruhr University, which underlines the successful relationships so far.
Prof. Jörg Ennuchat has visited the NTUE regularly since 2017, which further strengthens the bond and exchange between the institutional partners. This close cooperation demonstrates a mutual interest in legal issues, with similarities in constitutional and administrative law being identified, which, however, result in different legal solutions in Germany and Taiwan.
International university collaborations are trending
The latest partnership is part of a growing trend that German universities are following to expand their international collaborations.
