Running fun for the little ones: Kids Run inspires over 60 children!

The 39th campus run took place at the Technical University of Dortmund on June 5, 2025, which was intended not only to encourage exercise, but also to promote a sense of community among the participants. The more than 60 participating children experienced an exciting morning with a kick-off with the Kids Run, which ran over 600 meters. Parents, students and university employees enthusiastically cheered on the little athletes. They were accompanied by the university sports mascots Wanda and Pilo.

The Kids Run was followed by various competitions over distances of 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km. In the 2.5km race category, Kevin Prilgrim was finally able to celebrate his first win after taking second place several times before. Tilda Pothmann shone in the U16 category and secured victory in the same competition.

Exciting competitions and challenges

The 5 km run attracted around 500 starters and was won by Lorenz Rix. His impressive final sprint gave him first place, followed by Colin Kolbe. Karlotta Jule Kranz not only won the overall ranking, but also the U16 category in this competition.

A special highlight of the event was the costume competition, which was won by a seven-headed giant caterpillar. The 10 km main run was ceremoniously opened by the TU Rector Prof. Manfred Bayer and Sina Diekmann. In the women's race, Lara Kiene won with a clear lead, while Lorenz Rix also held his own in the 10 km run and triumphed with a finish sprint against Jonas Schmitz from RWTH Aachen.

Children's runs in Germany
