Massive construction work at the University Center: bus routes affected and diversions!

On October 6, 2025, extensive construction work will begin in the area of ​​the University Center of the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), which will lead to significant changes in local public transport. These measures primarily affect RUB members who rely on the use of bus routes. The bus routes affected by the construction work include lines 339, 344, 346, 356, 358, 370, 372, 374, NE7, NE8 and NE17. In order to provide passengers with better orientation, numerous changes to stops were necessary.

For lines 344, 346, 370, 374, NE7, NE8 and NE17, the “Ruhr-Universität” stop will be relocated to Hustadtring in front of house number 141. The stops on lines 358 and 372 will also be relocated to the new location under the administration of the RUB. Passengers on lines 339 and 356 should know that the “Ruhr-Universität” stop can no longer be reached. Here we recommend using the “Hallenbad Querenburg” stop on Schinkelstraße. A replacement stop was also set up at the health campus for lines 339 and 356.

Timetable changes in the Witten-Herbede area

Also from May 5, 2025, extensive timetable changes will be introduced on lines 320 and 375. This is necessary due to the closure of the “Witten-Herbede” exit on the A43. The timetable for line 320 will be completely adjusted, although the town center of Witten-Herbede will no longer be served. The new route runs from (H) FREIZEITBAD HEVENEY in the direction of Niedersprockhövel Kirche directly over the motorway to the stop (H) NIEDERSPROCKHÖVEL KIRCHE and further through the Wittener Hammertal to the stop (H) BOCHUM, STIEPELER DORFKIRCHE.

A new line 320E will be set up to reach the town center. This line runs from (H) BOCHUM, RUHR-UNIVERSITÄT via line 374 to the stop (H) HERBEDE MITTE and on to (H) KNAPPENSIEDLUNG. The stops on line 320E include (H) RUHR-UNIVERSITÄT bus platform 1, (H) HALLENBAD QUERENBURG and (H) TECHNOLOGIEQUARTIER. Line 375 remains unchanged from Monday to Saturday, but makes some adjustments on Sundays and public holidays in order to avoid parallel journeys in the “Lottental” area.

Construction and timetable changes in Berlin

There are also significant construction projects in Berlin that affect S-Bahn traffic. For example, from October 6th to October 13th there will be no S-Bahn service between Königs Wusterhausen and Wildau. During this time, a replacement service with barrier-free buses will be set up. Also on the nights of 07/08. and 08./09. In October there will be changes to the S-Bahn service between Landsberger Allee and Ostkreuz, where a replacement bus service has been set up.
