New trainees start at HHU: tradition meets future!
On August 1st, twelve new trainees began their vocational training at Heinrich Heine University (HHU) in Düsseldorf. The welcoming ceremony for the newly minted trainees not only presented the diversity of the training professions, but also the integrative community that the HHU promotes. A special item on the program was the planting of a wish tree, a parrotia persica, at the Student Service Center (SSC), where the trainees submitted their personal wishes.
The new trainees come from various regions of Germany, including East Frisia, Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Bavaria. You will be trained in six different areas, which include both practical and theoretical components. The areas of responsibility include work in the Botanical Garden, the Center for Information and Media Technology, the university and state library and the university administration. The training manager Sandra Rahmöller presented the extensive training program to the new trainees and current employees.
A wide range of apprenticeships
The HHU offers a total of 49 training positions in up to nine professions. This includes:
- Anlagenmechanik
- Elektronik
- Feinwerkmechanik
- Gärtnerei
- Buchbinderei
- Fachinformatik
- Mediengestaltung
- Medien- und Informationsdienste
- Büromanagement
- Glasapparatebau
- Duales Studium zum Verwaltungsinspektoranwärter
In addition, the HHU also offers training in eleven occupations that cover various disciplines. These professions range from office management clerks to media designers for digital and print, such as training.de lists. Applications will be accepted again for the coming year from September 1, 2025, as some places have become vacant due to successful completion of trainees.
Structure and support during training
The training regulations that apply to these professions are standardized nationwide. This ensures the quality of training and recognizes the results by the state, which is important for employers. The training at HHU is particularly designed to enable trainees to work independently and to make them fit for the digital and ecological future. Regular feedback sessions accompany the trainees throughout their entire training period in order to promote personal and professional development.
Special services such as company tickets and a subsidy for capital-forming benefits are available to trainees. Last but not least, they also have access to the university's sporting offerings to balance out their vocational training.
Heinrich Heine University is aware of the need to adapt its training content to the rapidly changing requirements of the labor market. The training is therefore continuously modernized in order to offer young talents the best prospects in an increasingly digitalized and sustainable professional world.
