New podcast Wissen2Wirtschaft”: Shaping Paderborn’s future!

The podcast “Wissen2Wirtschaft…and back” will start on May 15, 2025, which represents an innovative collaboration between the University of Paderborn and the Paderborn Economic Development Agency. This new podcast aims to bring together science, business and society in the Paderborn region and develop progressive solutions for current and future challenges. The presenter Jenny Heimann and the reporter Selina Hare will cover various relevant topics in the first season, which includes a total of six episodes.

The first season offers an exciting insight into projects and developments that not only affect the city of Paderborn, but also shed light on cultural and economic aspects. The topics include the urban development project “Future Quarter”, the cultural and creative industries, local public transport of the future, as well as inspiring founding stories from Paderborn.  Uni-Paderborn reports thatNew episodes appear every three weeks on Thursdays and are available on all common streaming platforms. Futuristic technologies in focus

In parallel, the podcast OUTATIME, led by Prof. Roman Dumitrescu, highlights the opportunities and challenges that futuristic technologies bring with them. Like a thought experiment, each topic is introduced to introduce listeners to different future scenarios. Discussion ranges from cloud backup for memories to smart homes. The topic of the first episode deals with the development of an omniscient artificial intelligence, whereby the risks and opportunities of these technologies for everyday life, the economy, politics and society are discussed.

The podcast, which launches on February 11, 2025 on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts, combines scientific perspectives with popular science fiction elements. As science fiction fans, hosts Roman Dumitrescu and Tommy Falkowski look at technological trends and their social impact. Future topics such as unlimited energy and the transparent human being are planned. Fraunhofer IEM reports thatnew episodes will appear every two weeks, every second Tuesday.

Sustainability and applied research

In another interesting format, the podcast “On behalf of the future”, presented by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, deals with central topics in applied research. These include artificial intelligence, sustainable construction and medical technologies. The hosts Annette Weiß and Sven Oswald offer the target group of business, society and those interested in technology an entertaining and understandable presentation of research results and innovations.

This podcast, which is published every two weeks and has an episode length of around 30 minutes, deals with socially relevant future issues. Topics such as climate-neutral construction and the role of AI in the energy industry are on the agenda.
