Quantum tones in the Duisburg Audimax: Science meets music!

On September 19, 2025, the University of Duisburg-Essen is announcing a special event that will blur the boundaries between science and art. A concert entitled “A Quantum of Music – Music Meets Science in the Quantum Year 2025” will take place on Sunday, October 5th, from 6 p.m. in the Old Audimax on the Duisburg campus. This event is an innovative collaboration between the Hamborn Abbey Wind Symphony and physicists from the university.

The event, hosted by Dr. Nicolas Wöhrl and Prof. Dr. Axel Lorke's aim is to offer visitors an exciting insight into the world of quantum physics. Not only are scientific experiments presented, but musical arrangements are also performed, which include both our own compositions and well-known melodies from films such as “Aladdin” and “Star Wars”. This unique combination promises to both entertain and inform viewers.
