Open day: Discover the future of hydrogen technology!
On June 20, 2025, the Center for Fuel Cell Technology (ZBT) invites you to a special event. An open day will take place as part of the nationwide Hydrogen Week. The event offers an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in the topics of hydrogen, fuel cells and electrolysis.
The open day begins on June 25, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. Those interested can visit the ZBT, an affiliated institute of the University of Duisburg-Essen. The ZBT is an important research institution in Europe that specializes in hydrogen technologies. Participation in the event is free, but registration is recommended.
Program and offers
A varied program awaits visitors. Highlights include:
The ZBT also brings its many years of research expertise into the design of a sustainable hydrogen infrastructure. The focus is particularly on green hydrogen and ammonia in order to actively shape the climate-neutral energy future. The ZBT currently employs around 180 skilled workers.
Importance for the energy transition
The event reflects the central role of the ZBT in Duisburg, which is viewed as an important location for the energy transition. The ZBT's research facilities not only contribute to the development of efficient technologies, but also contribute to the transition from linear to circular recycling systems. The circular economy minimizes emissions and waste production while at the same time conserving resources.
Initiatives like those of the Fraunhofer Society support this transition by exploring systemic, technical and social innovations. The need for environmentally friendly solutions is growing as millions of tons of waste are generated every year, making sustainability more important than ever.
