Münster University Society supports creative projects with 86,000 euros!
On March 12, 2025, a symbolic check for over 86,000 euros was handed over to the University of Münster at Münster Castle. This happened as part of the funding of 16 projects by the Münster University Society. The chairman Dr. Paul-Josef Patt and Rector Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels presented the checks and acknowledged the long-standing tradition of the university society, which has supported outstanding initiatives in the areas of teaching, research, culture and student life for over 100 years. This increase in the funding volume to 86,000 euros signals a strong commitment to innovative projects.
The funding includes five flagship projects that receive special attention. These include:
Various other projects
In addition to these lighthouse projects, numerous other initiatives are also supported that cover both scientific and cultural aspects. These include, among other things:
- Austausch mit der Refugee Law Clinic Hamburg und Columbia Law School, New York.
- Das Projekt „Schneesport in der Rehabilitation krebskranker Kinder und Jugendlicher“.
- „Jazzschlager in der jungen DDR“.
- „Book Studio Münster“.
- „Schwarze deutschsprachige Autorinnen und Autoren im Austausch“.
- „Klangzeit_Werkstatt ZWISCHEN DEN STÜHLEN“.
- „Interner Hochschulwettbewerb STREICHER PLUS“.
- „Opernprojekt 2025 – der Schauspieldirektor und Meow and forever“.
- Ein Forschungsprojekt zum Komponisten Anton Bernhard Fürstenau.
- Ein geplantes Konzert von Carl Rütti mit dem Titel „Mysterium Montis“.
- „Die Lernreise – partizipative Lehrgestaltung als Perspektive für die Lehramtsausbildung?“.
The Münster University Society has supported projects several times in the past to support students' initiative and creativity. In 2023, for example, nine projects, including three lighthouse projects, received a total of 51,000 euros in funding. The funding of these programs shows the unwavering commitment to cultural, social and scientific progress at the University of Münster, said Dr. Paul-Josef Patt and Rector Johannes Wessels handing over the check.
The university society's collaboration with various institutions and organizations helps ensure that the University of Münster continues to be perceived as a center for innovative research and teaching. The support from the members plays a central role here, as Johannes Wessels emphasized. These committed actions not only take place within the university, but also strive to strengthen the connection with society, allowing the university to make a significant contribution to solving current social challenges. Further information about support from prominently funded research organizations can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which provides an overview of the role of scientific organizations that contribute to excellence in German research.
The ongoing support of the Münster University Society lays the foundation for numerous innovative projects that enrich the future of the university and strengthen the connection between research and society, while at the same time promoting the cultural identity and engagement of students.
