Global experts meet: Bielefeld becomes the focus of operations!
Under the title “Quantitative Approaches for a Complex World” the event will take place from September 2nd to 5th, 2025 International Conference on Operations Research 2025 (OR 2025) at Bielefeld University. The event promises to be a platform for exchanging ideas and solutions to complex problems in various areas such as wind farms, supply chains and aid distribution.
The conference is organized by Professor Dr. Matthias Amen from the Faculty of Economics in collaboration with the German Society for Operations Research (GOR). Over 400 experts from all over the world with both academic and practical backgrounds are expected.
Topics and lectures
The program includes 278 lectures in 83 parallel sessions covering a variety of topics, including emergency care in healthcare, route planning in logistics, and artificial intelligence and machine learning. Plenary lectures will be given by, among others, Professor Dr. Rubén Ruiz from Amazon Web Services and the Universitat Politècnica de València, who talks about modeling techniques, and Professor David Pisinger PhD from the Technical University of Denmark, who deals with optimization models for offshore wind farms.
The conference is aimed at an interdisciplinary audience interested in operations research, management science, data science and analytics. The focus on interdisciplinary approaches is typical of the applications of this discipline and allows participants to gain valuable insights and techniques that go beyond their own areas of expertise.
Special formats and workshops
A special highlight is the Dokt!OR program, which is specifically designed for participants in early career stages. In addition, the event offers workshops, exhibition stands from software companies as well as evening events such as a welcome reception and a conference dinner in the historic Hechelei, an important location for the linen industry.
In addition, selected articles are published by the renowned Springer publishing house. The goal of the conference is to increase visibility of the broad application of operations research, ranging from production planning to sustainability issues. The conference language is English, which further encourages international participation.
Deadlines for abstract submission and registration have already been met, but information about sponsors and other program details remain available. The conference thus promises a significant opportunity for exchange and networking in an area that is central to solving many complex global challenges.
