Science for children: exciting lectures at the University of Bonn!
The Children's University at the University of Bonn is a unique educational opportunity for young explorers between the ages of 8 and 13. In the coming weeks, the university will again be inviting its young students to take part in exciting lectures. Andrea Grugel, head of the Young University team, emphasizes that science should be accessible to everyone. The offer is not only aimed at little inquisitive children, but also actively introduces them to scientific questions.
On May 5, 2025, Professor Dr. Adrian Hermann kicks off the summer semester. His lecture entitled “Science – is it all just a game?” will deal with the importance of analog games in culture and society. In his research and as part of the lecture, Professor Hermann will explain why games are so popular and how they work. The University of Bonn offers a total of six different research topics for interested children, which take place on Mondays in the Wolfgang Paul lecture hall.
Lecture program and participation
The events are free and registration is not necessary. Lectures begin at 5:15 p.m. and end at 6:00 p.m., with hundreds of children attending each semester. Anyone who attends at least ten lectures over the entire winter and summer semester can earn a children's university diploma. The children also receive a stamp in their student ID for each visit, which also allows them access to the cafeteria.
