Workshop to promote entrepreneurial mindset: How to rock the market!

The online workshop “p2i: In Action” will take place on March 11, 2025 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., which is aimed specifically at experienced doctoral students and postdocs from Europe. The workshop, organized by the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), aims to improve the entrepreneurial mindset of the participants. In this interactive format, participants learn about various strategies for validating business ideas as well as tools for implementing concepts. Numerous practical activities and networking opportunities with industry leaders, innovation experts and research colleagues are planned. Contents and methodology of the workshop

The workshop format promotes an interactive, experience-oriented approach, which is of great importance at a time when creativity and innovative spirit are in demand. Participants will be introduced to core concepts of startup culture, including creativity, risk-taking, and problem-solving strategies, such as FasterCapital describes.

The content is divided into different phases. First there is the ideation, in which ideas are generated and shared. In the validation phase, participants test their ideas to check their marketability. The strategies are then implemented, in which the concepts are converted into a minimum viable product (MVP). Finally, the focus falls on reflection, in which experiences and results are discussed in order to promote a learning culture.

Practical experience and networking

The workshop provides hands-on experience in business idea development, including practices such as customer interviews, surveys, and the use of landing pages for market validation. These methods are crucial to effectively tailor products and services to the needs of the target group.

In addition, emphasis is placed on collaboration in multidisciplinary teams to promote creative approaches. Feedback from mentors and experts will inspire participants to pursue their personal passions and increase their confidence.

Promoting positive social and environmental impacts is a central concern of the workshop. Success stories like the Startup Weekend or the Hult Prize show how such formats can help develop innovative solutions to social challenges.
