Fight for equality: Women demand fairness at work!

As part of efforts to promote gender equality in the corporate world, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management has launched a significant initiative. On the occasion of International Women's Day, WHU is waiving application fees in March for female students who enroll in full-time bachelor's or master's degree programs. They want to support female talent who often face special challenges.

Studies show that women face higher demands in the corporate world and are often excluded from important networks. Despite better educational qualifications, women are often exposed to structural disadvantages in their professional lives. Numerous studies show that they have to fight harder to be recognized as experts and to receive adequate financing for their entrepreneurial projects. The waiver of application fees represents an important financial relief for many, making it easier to access education whu.edu reported.

Courses and support

Applicants must submit their documents by the end of March; a special code is not required. The fee waiver campaign applies to various courses, including:

  • Bachelor in Business Administration
  • Bachelor in Business Psychology
  • Master in Management
  • Master in Finance
  • Master in Entrepreneurship
  • Master in International Business
  • Master in Business Analytics

The WHU emphasizes that the applicants addressed can expect first-class training and a varied campus experience. In addition, scholarships are offered for female students and valuable networks are supported by the In Praxi alumni association.

Equality in the corporate world

Gender equality remains a central issue. According to the UN Global Compact, companies should take due diligence measures to promote equality in operations and supply chains. This includes combating discrimination and sexual harassment, as well as developing inclusive business models. Companies should involve external organizations that advocate for women's rights and take gender discrimination seriously, such as bhr-navigator.unglobalcompact.org emphasized.

Lack of equality is not only a social problem, but also an economic one. The gender pay gap in Germany is 18 percent, while women spend an average of 52.4 percent more time on unpaid care work than men. This inequality is also reflected in the segregated representation in the labor market and endangers the economic independence of women in the long term.

The German Association of Women Lawyers (djb) is calling for new legal regulations to create freedom from discrimination in companies. This is intended to establish transparent reporting requirements and strengthen the rights of employees. The goal is a gender-equitable corporate culture that offers all genders equal opportunities djb.de is highlighted.

Overall, it is important to overcome discriminatory structures and to anchor equality as an essential component of company management. With its program, WHU is taking an important step in the right direction and could serve as a model for other institutions.
