Vital blood donation: Be there on September 23rd!

On Tuesday, September 23rd, an important blood donation day will take place on the premises of the WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management. The appointment is organized by the WHU First Responders in collaboration with the blood donation service German Red Cross organized. This day comes at a time when the need for blood donations is greater than ever.

In Germany, around 15,000 blood donations are needed every day to cover the needs of the clinics. This makes the campaign an indispensable contribution to patient safety. Every year, around 100,000 active blood donors drop out due to age or health problems. These developments underscore the urgency of attracting new donors.

Conditions and registration

The blood donation day begins at 2:00 p.m. and ends at 6:30 p.m. in the WHU C building. Anyone who wants to donate must meet certain conditions for participation: the minimum weight is 50 kilograms, the minimum age is 18 years, and there must be no serious illnesses. Registration takes place on site, with interested donors having to register at the entrance and fill out a questionnaire.

Following registration, a medical examination will take place to check the donor eligibility and health status of the participants. It is planned that up to 500 ml of blood can be donated in the donation room. After the donation, the volunteers have access to a relaxation room where they can recover.
