Revolution in education: AI courses for young entrepreneurs in Kenya!

On March 1, 2025, a pioneering strategic cooperation between WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management and the Liberating Education Organization came into force. This partnership has the ambitious goal of providing access to technological insights and the foundations of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) for young people in remote regions. In particular, innovative business ideas are to be promoted and economic opportunities developed in the participants' home countries.

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dries Faems is developing a comprehensive course on AI in entrepreneurship. The content is offered in the Liberating Education Organization's hybrid university centers in remote regions such as Kenya. The focus here is on the practical fundamentals of generative AI that support business applications.

Educational model and reach

The project is based on a hybrid education model that combines digital learning with content from top universities via satellite internet. This model combines remote content, live lectures and tutoring and now also integrates AI into the teaching content. There are already three training centers in operation in Kenya. The cooperation has also attracted great interest from other countries such as Ghana, Uganda, Malawi, Nigeria and India.

The Liberating Education Organization, founded in 2023 by Konstantin Kölmel and Nils Rauscher, aims to bring university education to remote regions and promote innovative educational technologies. To achieve this goal, the NGO plans to set up a total of ten hybrid centers in five different countries over the course of the year. In addition, a new Hybrid University Center has been operating in Mumbai, India, since March 2023.

Research initiatives and AI-powered tutorials

In parallel to the cooperation with WHU, the NGO is launching a research initiative on interactive AI learning content. This includes the development of AI-supported tutors to support students in developing their start-up ideas. The goal is to create a prototype that adapts learning content in real time to enable individual learning paths.

In addition to the cooperation, WHU offers an online boot camp to improve business processes through generative AI tools. Participants learn how to effectively use tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude AI and Perplexity AI. The boot camp, which is led by Prof. Dr. Led by Dries Faems, it includes interactive sessions covering topics such as developing specific AI agents and combining different tools.

These programs are primarily aimed at professionals and managers from various industries who want to optimize data-driven decisions and automate business tasks. At the end, participants receive a WHU Executive Education Digital Certificate and can directly implement the skills they have acquired in their business context.

Konstantin Kölmel, Co-Founder and CEO of the Liberating Education Organization, highlights the importance of personalized learning and the economic prospects that such educational initiatives hold for young people. The integration of generative AI into the educational landscape, both in academic and entrepreneurial contexts, represents a significant step towards future-oriented education.
