RPTU presents innovations at the Rhineland-Palatinate Day in Neustadt!
The Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) will be present at the Rhineland-Palatinate Day in Neustadt an der Weinstraße from May 23rd to 25th, 2025. The university is the only technical university in Rhineland-Palatinate and offers visitors an extensive program. As part of its participation in the festival, the RPTU will appear in the “Innovation Mile”, which has the motto “Together we are the future – digitalization and innovation”.
Over 16 opportunities to participate and get to know each other invite guests to discover the world of science. Visitors can experience various scientific phenomena, such as the basics of modern fiber optic technology or the improvement of industrial mixing processes using so-called jet loop reactors. The use of artificial intelligence to develop creative ideas will be particularly exciting, as will the presentations about algae, which produce biomass from CO₂ through photosynthesis.
Interactive experiences and training opportunities
Interactive offerings include a laser maze that challenges viewers to direct laser beams with mirrors, as well as experiments on renewable energy and magnetism. An escape game from the RPTU Green Office also offers exciting insights into possible solutions to the climate crisis. The “Motion Researcher” project, on the other hand, enables citizens to work with researchers to develop everyday medical aids, such as foot lifting orthoses.
Another highlight is the Ada Lovelace project, which aims to promote girls and young women in STEM topics through programming with Ozobots. The RPTU's central study advisory service will also be on site and provide information about the diverse range of courses on offer. These include courses in engineering, natural and environmental sciences, educational and social sciences, mathematics, computer science, psychology and teacher training.
The RPTU not only offers attractive face-to-face courses, but is also a provider of distance learning courses in various subject areas. The opportunity to exchange ideas with students and employees about sustainable study programs will also be a central part of the event.
Science as a community project
In order to expand the focus on science, the RPTU is also hosting several events in December 2024 with a particular focus on physics and artificial intelligence. A Physics Day will be held on December 7th, involving more than 1,200 participants. More than 40 events with experiments and a physics competition are planned for schoolchildren in three age groups. Topics such as “Gravitational Waves – A New Window into the Universe” are on the agenda.
In addition, there will be a public evening lecture on artificial intelligence on December 12th, at which Prof. Dr. Paul Lukowicz, a renowned expert in this field, on “AI – mumbo jumbo or science?” will speak.
Through its events and programs, the RPTU highlights the importance of bringing science, research and social challenges together. The goal is to develop solutions to problems such as climate change and digital transformation. The campus in Kaiserslautern, surrounded by the Palatinate Forest, not only offers an inspiring place for research, but also numerous leisure opportunities for university members.
