RPTU starts AI project: Digitalization for founders in the EU!

The Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) is launching an exciting new project called PIONEER+. Loud RPTU The European project is intended to develop universities in Europe into competence centers for digital innovation and entrepreneurial thinking. PIONEER+, which stands for “Pioneering Innovation & Entrepreneurship capacity building activities through Digital Transformation”, aims to strengthen the innovative capacity of academic education.

The project is led by the Ionian University in Greece and includes other partners from seven different EU countries. In addition, the Business + Innovation Center Kaiserslautern (bic) will be closely involved in the activities. The RPTU focuses in particular on developing a methodology to promote spin-offs at universities. Professor Dr. Dennis Steininger, who works at the Chair of Entrepreneurship at the RPTU, is leading the project.

Promoting innovation through AI

The PIONEER+ project is funded by almost 1.5 million euros from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). EIT is an independent EU body that strengthens Europe's innovation capacity through various programs and initiatives. The project duration extends from 2025 to 2027 and includes various planned activities.

The measures include courses on “AI in Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship” as well as the organization of international summer schools to support technology start-ups. This is in line with the general trend towards implementing and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into business processes, products and services. How IBM describes, AI-based systems are intended to promote innovation, efficiency and growth.

Strategies for successful AI transformation

AI transformation goals focus on optimizing workflows, automating manual tasks, and improving customer experience. The use of technologies such as machine learning, generative AI and automation will require companies to adapt their operating models and develop corresponding AI strategies. A solid data management strategy is essential to ensure the quality and availability of the required data.

The challenges associated with integrating AI into existing systems are diverse. Companies need to ensure they have the necessary talent and prepare for change management. Whether in customer service, supply chain or human resources management – the diverse use cases show how important comprehensive training and integration of AI is. The PIONEER+ project could play an important role here by training a new generation of entrepreneurs and innovators based on in-depth AI knowledge.

Overall, RPTU's initiative shows how education and technology can work together to overcome the challenges of digital transformation. The support from the EIT is seen as crucial in promoting the development of universities into centers of excellence for digital innovation. The project offers an opportunity not only for universities, but also for future entrepreneurs who will build on a solid foundation of innovative technologies.
