The WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management performed impressively in the Financial Times' current Global MBA Ranking 2023 and secured first place for full-time MBA programs in Germany. This ranking, which regularly assesses the best business schools worldwide, shows that WHU has consistently been one of the leaders in Germany since 2019. Worldwide, WHU ranks 66th out of 100 participating universities, which underlines its international competitiveness. WHU Rector Prof. Dr. Christian Andres expressed his pride about the award and aims to further consolidate the university's global position.
WHU offers its MBA programs on the Düsseldorf campus and offers various models, including full-time, part-time and online formats. In the past cohort, over 85 percent of students came from international countries, which promotes intercultural learning and diversity within the program.
Services and improvements
WHU is showing significant improvements in several key areas. Particularly noteworthy is the progress in the “International Course Experience” category, in which WHU ranks 13th – a huge jump of 19 places compared to the previous year. The university also shows commitment in the area of sustainability. It achieved 8th place worldwide in the “Carbon Emission Rank” category, significantly improving from 57th place last year.
In addition, WHU achieved notable rankings in other metrics: the university took 15th place in the “Sector Diversity” category, while it took 16th and 18th place in the “International Mobility” and “Alumni Network” categories. This achievement was confirmed by the latest publication dated February 12, 2024 to support its continuous improvement, which is why the university is now ranked 19th in Europe.
A strong examination process
The Financial Times rankings are based on extensive reviews and specific audit procedures on the survey data collected. KPMG ensured the integrity of the audit process, which was conducted between October and November 2023. There is reportedly a significant 157-point difference between the top program, the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, and the last-place school in the rankings.
The schools are generally divided into four tiers, with WHU being in the top institution category. Tier I includes the absolute leaders as WHU continues to work to expand its influence within the international education community.
Overall, the ranking shows that WHU is on the right track to becoming a significant player in the field of MBA education, not only in Germany but also internationally. With the combination of excellent academic achievements and a targeted focus on international networking, WHU remains an attractive choice for aspiring managers.
