Future-oriented leadership: New MBA program for the automotive industry launched

The Gutenberg School of Business (GSB) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz will launch a groundbreaking continuing education program in October 2025 that is specifically aimed at international managers. In collaboration with Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze SE (SEBN), the SEBN MBA: Performance Squad program was launched, which is considered the first tailor-made company program of its kind. This innovative offering specifically responds to the challenges of the fast-moving automotive industry, which is changing as a result of digitalization, new business models and global market changes.

The SEBN MBA: Performance Squad curriculum extends over a period of ten months. It combines academic excellence with practice-relevant content in key areas such as finance, strategic management and leadership during transformation processes. In order to meet the requirements of internationally active managers, the program includes both face-to-face phases and digital learning units that enable flexible further training.

Objectives and structure of the program

The main goal of the new MBA program is to comprehensively prepare managers for changing market conditions and innovative technologies. The GSB brings in its extensive experience in international management training. Lecturers from science and practice ensure a high quality standard and a practical approach.

Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze SE, a global automotive supplier with over 36,000 employees in 13 countries, invests specifically in the future viability of its managers. The company, which had an impressive net sales of $30 billion in 2023, supplies electrical systems for both conventional and electric drive technologies.

Long-term development of the GSB

Since its founding in 2001, the Gutenberg School of Business has had a remarkable track record in part-time management and executive education at the master's level.
