CIPMM celebrates 10 years of research: ceremony and symposium in July!
The Center for Integrative Physiology and Molecular Medicine (CIPMM) at Saarland University will celebrate its tenth anniversary on July 1, 2025. The public ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. in the lecture hall building of the Medical Faculty, which is located on the Homburg campus. The event not only offers lectures by renowned scientists, but also exciting insights into research through laboratory tours.
Scientists from the fields of physiology, biophysics and molecular imaging are active in the CIPMM. The ceremony will be opened musically by Paul Gurti, a pianist from the Saar University of Music. Greetings come from State Secretary David Lindemann, University President Ludger Santen and Dean Matthias Hannig. Professor Dr. Frank Kirchhoff will give an overview of the “balance sheet and future of the CIPMM”. The highlight of the evening is the keynote speech by Professor Dr. Simone Mayer from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, which is entitled “Neurobiology in the Petri dish – opportunities and challenges”.
Scientific symposium on July 2nd
The following day, July 2, 2025, a scientific symposium entitled “Integrative Approaches in Physiology and Molecular Medicine” will take place at CIPMM, starting at 9 a.m. Professor Dr. Frank Kirchhoff will welcome the participants and the first session will focus on network and systems neuroscience. Another part of the program includes topics such as glial-neuron interactions, calcium signaling and cytotoxicity, which will be discussed in several sessions.
The event is not just intended for scientists: the interested public is warmly invited. Registration is required to take part in the symposium. Participants can look forward to a coffee break after the first session, followed by a lunch break from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. The day will be rounded off at 4:00 p.m. with a closing statement by Professor Dr. Frank Kirchhoff and a Saarland finale with a barbecue, drinks and live music from the band “Sugar” under the direction of Bernd Nickaes.
Additional events in 2025
However, the CIPMM is not the only institution planning important events in medicine. Other scientific and medical congresses have already announced their programs for 2025. For example, the 16th Summer Academy for Integrative Medicine will take place in Witten/Herdecke from August 8th to 15th, 2025, with the focus on interpersonal encounters and their meaning. Other congresses include topics such as nutritional advice and pain medicine, which will take place September 19-21, 2025 and October 22-25, 2025.
For detailed information about the events in the CIPMM and how to register for the symposium, interested parties can contact Professor Dr. Contact Frank Kirchhoff. He can be reached on 06841 16-16440 or by email at frank.kirchhoff(at)uks.eu.
For more information about further events in 2025, the events can be found at Healthy diversity be visited.
In summary, the tenth anniversary celebrations of the CIPMM are both a tribute to past research work and a look forward to future challenges and opportunities in physiology and molecular medicine. The strength of this institution, which remains dedicated to integrative research, lies in the transfer of knowledge and networking with the public.
