Chemnitz breaks record: Over 11,000 participants in the company run!

The anniversary edition of the SchnelleStelle.de company run took place in Chemnitz on September 3, 2025 and broke all previous participant records. Over 11,000 participants from around 600 companies and institutions took to the route, which led through Chemnitz city center and was around five kilometers long. tu-chemnitz.de reports that Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC) recorded an 11.6 percent increase in participation compared to the previous year with 266 runners.

The TUC runners presented themselves in eye-catching green shirts that bore the logo of the “STAND TOGETHER #TUCgether” campaign. The company run celebrated its 20th anniversary, with Chemnitz University of Technology having been actively participating in it since 2008. The event was so popular that a fifth wave of entries was introduced for the first time. This started at 5:45 p.m., followed by four more waves 15 minutes apart. This ensured safe execution on the route lined with spectators.

Performance of TUC participants

Maximilian Sieber was the fastest runner at Chemnitz University of Technology, finishing 16th in the individual rankings with a time of 17:04 minutes. Stefanie Zelt achieved 12th place among the women with 19:39 minutes. In the men's team ranking, the “slk-carbon” team from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering achieved 8th place with 01:13:28. The women’s team “TU Chemnitz” came 13th in 1:34:16. In the mixed team category, a team led by Florian Dathe, Thomas Weiß, Hanna Schüttoff and Sandra Schaftner took 21st place with a time of 01:24:45.

Particularly noteworthy is the performance of Martina Gerlach from the “Power(electronics)” team, who achieved 10th place in the “Fastest Skilled Worker” category with a time of 21:21 minutes. The company run was organized by the agency “Die Sportmacher”, which was founded by former TUC sports students. Spectators created an atmospheric atmosphere throughout the entire event.

Participation records and final results

The previous participant record was 10,600 participants last year, making this year's run an outstanding event. Other notable companies that traditionally take part in the event include Eins Energie in Sachsen, IBM and Volkswagen Sachsen. In the individual ranking, the fastest participants achieved excellent results:

Place name Pursue
1 Christopher Arnold Free Press Media Group
2 Aaron Schubert Sportmühle Thum
3 Simon Muenzner Sportmühle Thum

The best runners were:

Place name Pursue

2 Denise Schumacher Sportmühle Thum

The successful implementation of the event already provides a glimpse into the future: The next company run in Chemnitz is planned for 2026, and with the high number of participants it could also become a highlight in the event calendar. Major running events in Germany attract more than 10,000 runners every year, with the Berlin Marathon considered one of the largest examples. hdsports.de notes that such events are becoming increasingly popular not only in Berlin, but also in Chemnitz.
