Elmar Brok: Reading about the future of the EU in Chemnitz!

On March 25, 2025, Elmar Brok, a long-time politician and former member of the European Parliament, will read from his latest book "Don't gamble away Europe! - Without the EU, Germany is a dwarf". The event will take place in the university library of Chemnitz University of Technology in the “IdeenReich” and starts at 6 p.m. The journalist and author Peter Köpf, who is known for his political reporting, will moderate the reading.

Brok, who worked in the European Parliament from 1980 to 2019 and held several leadership positions, addresses in his book the central importance of a strong European Union (EU) for Germany. He also offers reform proposals for a more effective and democratic EU. These perspectives are particularly relevant at a time when political discussions about the EU's role in a globalized world are becoming increasingly loud.

The reading, which is organized by the University Library of Chemnitz University of Technology, the Chemnitz Project Office of the Saxon State Center for Political Education, the European Movement of Saxony and the European Union of Saxony, is free of charge. Those interested do not need to register in advance to take part in the event.

After the reading there will be a conversation with Elmar Brok, which offers the opportunity to contact the author directly and ask questions about his book and his views on the future of the EU.

This event is a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with an expert and learn more about the current challenges and opportunities of European integration. Further information about upcoming events in the university library can be found on the website www.mytuc.org/hbsv available.

In times of growing social, economic and political tensions within Europe, Brok's book and the associated reading are an important contribution to the discussion about the future of the EU and its influence on Germany.

The event promises to be an exciting evening that is both informative and stimulating, helping to highlight the relevance of the EU in the current political landscape. Bro's commitment and expertise give hope that discussions about a strong EU will continue.
