Art in focus: Students at TU Dresden show fascinating works!

On July 1, 2025, art lovers and those interested in Dresden can soon expect a special event. The art education department of the Institute for Art and Musicology at TU Dresden invites you to the opening of the exam exhibition “Islands of Minds”. The opening will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Custodian Gallery in the Görges Building.

This exhibition aims to make the inner themes of 25 teacher training students visible. The most recent works include plastic, painterly and media works that address different perspectives and their connecting lines. On this evening, visitors not only experience the works of art, but can also look forward to performances, a bar and live music.

Exhibition details

The “Islands of Minds” exhibition will be on view from July 18th to September 12th, 2025. Visitors can view the works of art on weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact the TU Dresden Custody at +49 351 463-40356.

This exhibition not only follows the successful vernissage “In the Middle of Everyone” that took place on February 6th. This previous event featured a variety of works by art education students, covering numerous topics such as art, change and individual positioning in a changing environment. Works in various media were shown, including painting, graphics, sculptural works and large-scale installations.

Themes of art

In the exhibition “In the Middle of Everything,” curated by Svea Duwe and Thomas Judisch, the students explored the interplay between nature and technology as well as the connections between the past and the future. Visitors were able to experience large-scale landscapes, abstract compositions and light-filled structures that addressed memory, transformation and human influence. The photographs by Kim Rosenkränzer, Arne Böhmer and Tabea Becher enriched the exhibition and provided additional visual impressions.

Through these events, the Art Education Department at TU Dresden not only presents the works of its students, but also creates space for discussions about contemporary art and its meaning in today's society. While the “Islands of Minds” exhibition offers new perspectives, the response to the previous exhibition “In the Middle of Everyone” remains alive among visitors.

Overall, these exhibitions reflect students' commitment to using art as a medium for personal and social issues and invite the public to participate in this creative process.
