RoboDay in Chemnitz: Children program the future with robots!

Chemnitz University of Technology invites you to an exciting event on May 17, 2025: RoboDay. This event takes place in the university's central lecture hall and seminar building at Reichenhainer Straße 90 and offers an exciting program for technology enthusiasts.

RoboDay is not only a platform for robot competitions, but also a space for creative and interactive experiences in the fields of robotics and technology. Among the highlights of the day are the regional preliminary rounds for the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) and the RoboSAX competition. TU Chemnitz reports that The target group includes children and young people aged 8 to 22 who have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in robotics.

Competitions and program

The competitions on RoboDay are diverse and offer something for everyone. The WRO regional competition comprises five categories and attracts teams from Saxony and neighboring federal states. In addition, the Johannes-Kepler-Gymnasium Chemnitz has registered seven teams for the RoboSAX competition, supported by the Chemnitz University of Technology.

The event schedule calls for competitions to begin at 9:00 a.m. The WRO regional competition starts at 9:45 a.m., followed by participation and information offerings that are available from 10:00 a.m. The event ends at 6:00 p.m. and offers a wide range of activities.

Participatory offers and information stands

Particularly interesting are the numerous participation offers that are available all day long without prior registration. Kepler Chemnitz emphasizes that Anyone interested can learn more about robotics, programming, electronics and 3D printing in workshops. Creative activities such as painting and crafts are also part of the program.

The TU Chemnitz stands are also available to provide information about study programs and MINT educational paths. Students and professors offer insights into their research and are available for discussions. A particularly fascinating highlight will be the presentation of an autonomous electric racing car from T.U.C. be racing teams.

Accompanying events and experiments

The RoboDay supporting program also includes lectures, such as those from Sascha Kaden, who will talk about robot research for Industry 5.0. There will also be presentations of mobile research robots and model cars that were developed by the Process Automation Professorship. Visitors can try out the robotics systems of the Center for Teacher Training and Educational Research.
