University library extends opening hours and offers new rooms!
The university library at Chemnitz University of Technology is planning to significantly expand its opening hours during the upcoming exam period. These changes occur betweenJuly 6thand thatAugust 16, 2025in force. Every day students can...9:00 a.m. to midnightAccess the library, including additional opening hours on Sundays.
A special highlight is the introduction of four new group work rooms in the so-called “IdeenReich”. These are available from now onJuly 18thavailable and must be booked via an online reservation system. Booking is free and can take place in three time slots: from9 a.m. to 1 p.m,1 p.m. to 5 p.mand5 p.m. to 10 p.m. For bookings on the weekends, pre-registration is required no later than12 p.m. on Fridaynecessary.
Reservation and use of group work rooms
The group work rooms at Chemnitz University of Technology are designed for up to ten people. A person must register for the reservation. It is important to know that the information and service counters are not staffed on the seven Sundays, so you must use the self-checkout and return machines. These machines are also open on weekdays7 p.m. and midnightas well as Saturdays from12 p.m. to midnightin operation.
Some other relevant information includes the fact that reservations are not checked in after30 minutesexpire and group rooms are only available for groups, not for individuals. Reservations are only possible for members of Chemnitz University and are not transferable.
Alternative group work locations
The University of Munich also offers a wide range of opportunities for group work. There are specialized libraries here that provide group study rooms, including the English, Earth Sciences, Mathematics and many more. These rooms can accommodate up toseven days in advancecan be reserved and offer a maximum usage time offour hours.
In addition, the Leo Learning Center offers 13 special tables for group work, three of which can be reserved. LMU has clear guidelines for booking, including a maximum number of reservations per week.
At TU Berlin, group work rooms for four to eight people are available, equipped with whiteboards and additional monitors. These rooms are suitable for both small groups and larger groups of up to 16 people. Reservations are also required here and the equipment includes modern aids such as touchscreen monitors.
