Diversity TU go: Experience science communication in a new way!
The Technical University of Dresden starts in April 2025 with the event series “Vielfalt TU go”. This series aims to promote diversity and inclusion in science. The monthly online workshops and lectures take place on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., with the kick-off event on April 4, 2025 under the motto “Communicating science in an entertaining way”.
The focus here is on the importance of science communication for access to knowledge and the consideration of different perspectives. The events are intended to help break down barriers and promote dialogue between society and science. A central concern is to address questions about the effective communication of science to different target groups. Popular formats such as FameLab, ScienceSlam, SoapboxScience and PechaKucha offer different approaches to presenting scientific content.
First event and registration
Simon Hauser will moderate the first session, which will take place in German, but also allows interaction in English. Registration is required by email by April 3, 2025.
In order to further support participation in the event, a wide range of training offers in the field of science communication could also be of interest. That's what it offers National Institute for Science Communication (NaWik) offers a variety of e-learning courses aimed at scientists and communicators at all career levels. The social media course provides insights into their functions and offers valuable support in developing communication ideas.
The practice-oriented design of the courses includes videos, animations and exercises to deepen understanding. Participants have the opportunity to recap what they have learned using a final test and receive a certificate of participation. This training can be booked online at any time and is not location-specific.
Looking for a job abroad
Another aspect that is important for many is professional mobility. Experts in finding jobs abroad, such as recruiters Mariella and Lotte, offer support in finding work outside of your home country. These recruiters are personal contacts and have gained experience abroad themselves. They support you with documentation, finding accommodation and settling in in the new country.
The entire service is free and over 9,000 people have already successfully found a job abroad. The process is explained in four easy steps, making it possible to find a job in less than a week.
By combining academic further education and professional mobility, the Technical University of Dresden and its cooperation partners offer a promising range of opportunities to advance diversity and inclusion in various areas.
