Virtual parents' evening at TU Freiberg: insight into student life!
On August 28th, a virtual parents' evening will take place at the Technical University of Bergakademie Freiberg, which has been newly introduced into the university's advisory services. The aim of this event is to give parents a comprehensive overview of study requirements, support services and life at university. This format offers valuable information and orientation, especially for the families of students who are about to start their studies.
At this parents' evening, participants have the opportunity to talk to professors and students in an open and informal setting. The conversation format is intended to help you gain a realistic insight into everyday student life. Study advisor Maike Baudach emphasizes that this new offer is part of a comprehensive expansion of the TU Freiberg's study advisory services, which takes into account the needs of future students and their families during the application and enrollment phase.
Special consultation formats
In addition to the parents' evening, open "last-minute appointments" are also planned for prospective students without a specific field of study. These appointments offer the opportunity to clarify specific questions and obtain information about the various study programs offered at TU Freiberg. These include bachelor's, master's and diploma courses in natural sciences, geosciences, engineering and economics.
The TU Freiberg has established itself particularly through innovative study profiles that integrate current trends such as blockchain and artificial intelligence. Geosciences, mechanical engineering, process engineering and energy engineering also receive outstanding support, with the focus on environmentally friendly technologies. Efficient materials are also part of the curriculum, as are economics, which includes management, marketing and other disciplines.
Digital formats and free offers
The “BigBlueButton” platform is used for all events, including parents’ evenings and specialist consultations. These digital information formats are free of charge and do not require prior registration. The dial-in link will be made available shortly before the events. This enables interested students and parents to obtain information flexibly and easily and to access the advisory services offered by TU Freiberg.
The educational advice at the university also includes multi-layered support that goes beyond just starting your studies. Among other things, specific advice is offered for graduates on career planning and the compatibility of science and parenthood. The German Student Union e.V. also offers comprehensive support for students in different life situations. This also includes programs to support students with disabilities, as well as information on the international recognition of university degrees.
With these diverse advisory services, TU Freiberg shows a clear focus on the individual needs of current and future students in order to ensure a successful start to their studies and also offer support right through to the professional world. The comprehensive resources support not only the choice of study, but also the long-term development of students on their academic and professional path. This reinforces the importance of well-structured educational advice in higher education as a whole.
