Language development in multilingualism
A central theme of the event was:Multilingualismand their impact on language development in children. Loud Speech therapy Lienert Children can usually learn several languages at the same time from birth. Children who have a different mother tongue at home are often able to learn German in addition to their mother tongue as soon as they enter kindergarten. However, difficulties can arise with children having problems with vocabulary and grammar in either one or both languages.
The symptoms that occur in children growing up multilingually are often similar to those of language development delays or disorders. Typical abnormalities must be differentiated from genuine language disorders. It is therefore important that the therapy takes the children's native language into account. For example, a child who speaks Arabic and German needs therapy that relies on both languages to promote language skills.
Therapeutic approaches and parental support
The therapy of language disorders in people who are multilingual should include exercises for auditory perception, playful expansion of vocabulary and improvement of language comprehension. Parents play a crucial role here by actively supporting their children's language development. They should also communicate with their children in their native language, as this is crucial for acquiring the German language.
In summary, a comprehensive approach to speech therapy and close collaboration between professionals and parents are necessary to meet the needs of children growing up multilingually.
