Bauhaus Summer School 2025: International language and cultural experience in Weimar!
The Bauhaus Summer School 2025 celebrated its start today, August 1st, at the Bauhaus University Weimar. Around 110 participants from all over the world have gathered to take part in this international summer program, which is aimed at prospective students, students and graduates. The event offers a variety of specialist and language courses in the areas of architecture, art, media, technology and the environment.
An outstanding element of the summer school is the “German in Weimar” course, a three and a half week intensive course to deepen your German language skills. The participants not only learn the language, but also gain insights into German culture. Through a combination of intensive language lessons and practical applications, listening and reading comprehension as well as writing and speaking skills are improved. Specialists support the small groups in developing vocabulary, grammar and phonetic skills.
Diverse course offerings
The Bauhaus Summer School offers a total of seven specialist courses, including “Art & the Senses”, which promotes creative ways of thinking through sensory experiences, and “Documentary Storytelling”, which teaches techniques of documentary storytelling. In addition, participants can take part in a weekend course in Vesser that deals with social-ecological change.
Around 15 participants receive a full scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), while around 35 international students from the Bauhaus University are supported by the “Bauhaus Navigator Funding”. In addition, nine students from abroad are taking part in the DAAD’s BIDS scholarship program.
Intercultural exchange and leisure activities
The summer school is characterized not only by its academic programs, but also by a varied leisure program. Participants have the opportunity to take part in city trips, nature trips, sporting activities and pub evenings. Particularly noteworthy is the cooperation with the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, which gives participants free access to museums and castles. An international dinner on the university campus gives participants the chance to present typical dishes from their home countries.
A festive closing will take place on Friday, August 29th at 2 p.m. on the Bauhaus University Weimar campus. Under the motto “Open Ateliers”, the participants will present their results and continue the creative exchange.
