First Erfurt Campus Cup: Sport, fun and exciting competitions!
The 1st Erfurt Campus Cup will take place at the University of Erfurt on June 25, 2025. The event is aimed at all members of Erfurt's universities and is held parallel to the 9th Erfurt Campus Run. This combination of competitions promotes cohesion and sporting commitment among students.
The Campus Cup competitions begin on Wednesday at 3 p.m. on the campus grounds. This year, sports such as beach volleyball and 3×3 basketball will be offered. Particular highlights are the final rounds, which take place after a break from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for participation in the campus run. The award ceremony is planned for 8 p.m. in front of the “Hörsaal 7” café, which will round off the event with a celebratory moment.
Diverse offering and organizational measures
The venues are varied, with the beach volleyball field behind the sports hall and the Max-Weber-Platz being used for 3×3 basketball. The campus run has its start and finish area on the campus meadow. In addition to the competitions, there is also a supporting program that includes five-a-side football, rugby, Teqball and a bouncy castle for children. This creates an inclusive atmosphere that strengthens community spirit.
For this day, vehicle traffic on the university campus will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., while Max-Weber-Platz will be closed to traffic from 2 p.m. However, access to and from the Parkharfe remains guaranteed, which guarantees a pleasant journey for the participants.

Sustainability aspects in major sporting events
In the context of sporting events, the topic of sustainability is becoming increasingly important. A research project on the sustainable implementation of sporting events in Germany has shown that 74% of organizers actively integrate sustainability into their mission statement. In addition, around 28% pursue a comprehensive sustainability strategy, with many based on the UN's “Sustainable Development Goals”.
The results of these surveys show that those responsible have a great interest in ecological, social and economic sustainability aspects. These measures can also be transferred to regional events such as the Erfurt Campus Cup. The University of Erfurt could make a valuable contribution and act as a role model by integrating sustainable practices.
The anticipation for the 1st Erfurt Campus Cup is great, and not only the sporting competitions promise an eventful day, but also the comprehensive supporting program and the emphasis on sustainability. An event that will be meaningful not only for the participants, but also for the entire university community.
