Discover the Vechta Children’s University: fun and learning for the little ones!
The University of Vechta is again inviting children aged 6 to 12 to the children's university in September 2025. This event series offers a variety of free lectures and workshops taking place from September 1st to 17th. Registration is possible via the contact form on the university website, www.uni-vechta.de/kinderuni, necessary. The program includes exciting topics such as mind reading, treasures in the garden and music in the head.
Additionally, workshops are offered on interactive topics such as robots, creative storytelling and experimenting with words. Children can marvel at the fascinating world of colors and learn more about the importance of play in animals. These diverse offerings are intended to arouse and encourage the interest and curiosity of young participants.
Enrichment through the lecture series
The Children's University is not the only educational initiative at the University of Vechta in the coming semester. In the summer semester of 2025, the subject matter education course will hold a lecture series entitled “Children and Living Environments”. This is led by Prof. Dr. Steffen Wittkowske and Michael Otten lead and offer a platform for speakers from the didactics of subject matter teaching and primary school education from Germany and Austria. Most of the lecture takes place on site in Vechta (room Q016), with three online lectures also included in the program. Anyone interested can take part free of charge; prior registration is not necessary.
The support of the Vechta Community Foundation and the University Society underlines the university's commitment to offering children and young people a high-quality education. If you have any questions about the lecture series, you can contact Michael Otten directly at michael.otten@uni-vechta.de.
Promoting talent in everyday school life
Another notable offering in Vechta are the workshops from HERO Education. These are intended to support children and young people in recognizing and developing their special talents, which are often not visible through conventional school grades. The courses are aimed at all types of schools, including primary schools, high schools and special needs schools. The HERO team brings experienced trainers into the facilities and offers programs ranging from course days to open meetings.
The charitable offerings are free for children and promote the personal and social development of the participants. Schools and educational institutions can book services by arrangement, and financing options are also shown. Since its founding in 2006, HERO Education has made a name for itself and works to strengthen children's emotional connection to their schools and to collect positive feedback about the impact of the offerings on school life.
The combination of these educational offerings shows the commitment of the University of Vechta and its partners to support children in their personal and social development and to offer them a wide range of learning opportunities.
